Drowning is a leading cause of death for children younger than 5, and the CPSC estimates that each year nearly 300 children drown and more than 3,200 end up in hospital emergency rooms because of submersion injuries.

When we encourage you to Pool Safely, we mean stay close to children in a pool or spa, constantly watch children in and around the water, know life-saving skills, like how to swim and perform CPR, and install safety equipment in and around the pool. These simple safety steps can save lives and assure a safe, fun experience around water.

As summertime approaches, millions of kids across America are drawn to swimming pools, beaches and lakes to cool off in the summer heat. Preparing your child with proper swimming instruction can help you relax and worry less about your child's skill and safety. If you have a child who's afraid of swimming or the water in general, it can be discouraging for both of you. By taking the process slowly and staying positive, you can ease your child into swimming lessons which will result in a safer and more fun summer for everyone. If your child has never enrolled in swim lessons we strongly encourage you to consider enrolling in private lessons in order to establish a foundation to work from. Classes at Shipman Swim School are tailored to all levels of swimmers, from beginning to advanced, in a safe and fun environment.

Learning to swim is a process. Much of your child’s success will depend on their age, ability, and skill level. Each swim lesson is designed to meet the specific needs of the student. Setting realistic goals and expectations from the onset will provide a platform for your child to excel from. Our Head Instructor, Stacy Shipman, has over 20 years of success teaching children how to swim. All of our Instructors are trained by Stacy to teach our Swim Curriculum. From an 18 month old that has never been in the water to an avid pre-teen swimmer, we offer swim lessons that will meet our student exactly at the point of their need.
